Wendy Elman

Wendy is President of Welman Digital where she helps companies reimagine how they interact with their customers and manage their business in the digital economy.

For over 20 years, she has been working with companies to align business strategy, workforce innovation, and transformation. She has proven leadership record in brand building, launching web and mobile applications, asset monetization, and P&L management. Areas of expertise include digital commerce, new product development, and change management.

Prior to launching Welman Digital, Wendy held a number of senior leadership positions, including: VP, Digital Solutions for Scientific American, where she set the digital strategy and was responsible for bringing new products and services to market; VP, Global Online Marketing, at The Economist, where she managed digital strategy, new audience acquisition, and product development for Economist.com; and Senior Director of eCommerce and Online Consumer Marketing at Scholastic, where she spearheaded the launch of several webstore properties and consumer marketing programs for parents, teachers, and kids. She began her digital media career at Random House as Director, New Media.

Carolyn Pittis
Carolyn PittisManaging Director
Carolyn has over 25 years of experience defining and deploying technologies to increase business efficiencies and effectiveness.

She specializes in change management, organizational design, business process engineering and product design. Carolyn defines and implements operating metrics and leads cross-functional peer-led teams designed for rapid execution.

Carolyn has held a variety of senior management positions working closely with CEOs, executives, and technologists in strategy, digital marketing, sales, web development, operations, digital asset management, business development, and managing editorial. Prior to joining Welman Digital, Carolyn served as VP, Operations at Sterling Publishing, a division of Barnes and Noble, Inc. and SVP, Publishing Transformation at HarperCollins Publishers.

Carolyn is a frequent media industry speaker on the topic of technology-driven change, and has taught in the Yale, New York University, Columbia University, and Pace publishing programs.

Adam Young
Adam YoungChief of Technology
Adam is a software engineer and technology strategist. Since 1996, he’s helped content creators develop digital solutions that engage readers, students, teachers, and customers.

His expertise includes web development, server-side engineering, cloud services, content management, and commerce for the web, phones, and tablets. Adam is the president of Atomic Software, which creates web and mobile apps, digital production systems, and cloud-based web services for publishing and education.

Brett Collins

Brett is an industry recognized information architect, user experience expert, internationally recognized typography expert and world class designer.

He has been recognized with publications and awards including Communication Arts, HOW Magazine, Macromedia and Milia D’Or. Brett’s work has graced the covers of both magazines and textbooks, he has lectured widely about design throughout America and England, taught classes at universities such as Ohio State, the Hartford Art School and the University of Cincinnati.

In 2002, Brett founded Counterspace in Westchester, NY. Brett envisioned creating a design agency that focused on the designer / client relationship and removing the many layers of account managers that had become the norm amongst the larger agencies. He operates under the belief that design requires analytical thinking along with design to solve visual problems. This business model has led to countless opportunities working for some of the most recognizable and successful companies in New York and across the globe.

Bruce Hartley
Bruce HartleyProduct Manager
Bruce Hartely is an executive product and project manager with extensive experience managing client relationships and award-winning digital projects across verticals ranging from music to personal care to finance to education.

Bruce started his career as a publicist at Mercury/PolyGram Records, where he established their first new media division. His work included the music industry’s first interactive press kit (for The Orb) as well as its first online chat (with the band “X” on CompuServe). He also ran successful campaigns with artists including KISS, Bon Jovi, Joan Osborne, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and more.

After Mercury, he co-founded MBM Productions, running direct marketing campaigns for the music industry, then transitioned to education with roles at The Princeton Review and Kaplan PMBR, setting up and driving digital initiatives and marketing campaigns.

Bruce then got the chance to combine his music industry experience with his work in the “real world” by taking a role at Sony’s Relentless Generator agency, where he managed client relationships, strategy and revenue for clients including Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, and Foo Fighters. Award winning projects included ChristmasCats.tv (CLIO), FooFighters.com (Webby Honoree and the HOW Interactive Design Award) and OMMA Awards (PitbullMusic.com and PinksPage.com).

On the weekend you’re likely to find Bruce coaching lacrosse, attending soccer games or combing through record stores throughout the NYC metro area and beyond.
